WHO WE ARE
We are supported at The St.
Thomas Aquinas Newman Center at UNLV
within the Diocese of Las Vegas.
-We are led by a board of directors that have been voted in by our organization.
-We are an independent 501(c)3 religious
non-profit organization.
Imago Dei (pronounced: ee-MAH-go day) is Latin for "Image of God." Our name reminds us that we are made in the image and likeness of God; therefore, we are loved by our God (Genesis 1:26-27). Imago Dei was established to meet a need in the Church for support of Catholic persons who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning (LGBTQ) and their families and friends. Persons who are LGBTQ have been made to feel that they are unwelcome in the Church and in the Heart of God.
Rather than leaving the Roman Catholic Church - as so many have - we must be a positive example within it. We are here for LGBTQ persons who are still celebrating their faith and for those who long to return.
We are also here for families and friends who want to understand, love and support their loved one(s) who are LGBTQ - especially through the light of their Catholic, Christian faith.
